Wednesday

Caroline's class had a picnic outside for lunch:

She also made her own sunflower butter and jelly sandwich:

Bennett's class did the same. They made sandwiches and then picnicked outside:

Friday

Caroline slept in bed all night so she got a new Hello Kitty tee, which she styled with a pink tutu and cat ears. I wish I could take credit for the incredible amount of pink girly that went into her outfit, but it was all her:

Junction Park

I bought Caroline new flats for the fall, but of course she saw them and had to have them immediately. Really, one of the best feelings is seeing her eyes light up when she gets something new, that she really likes. She insisted on sleeping with her shoes, naturally:

Saturday we went to the Sculpture Garden to see the Okee Dokee Brothers. The garden was packed with families, and the ground was wet, so it wasn't the most ideal day, but the kids enjoyed the music.

A very forced, "CHEEEEEEEEEEEZE!"

As we were leaving, Bennett was complaining about how hot it was, so we decided to visit the ice cream truck for a sweet treat. It was their first visit to an ice cream truck, and both knew exactly what they wanted:

Sadly, soon after this picture was taken, Bennett's nearly-finished ice cream melted off his stick and onto the sidewalk. He naturally burst into tears. It was sad. Minutes before he had exclaimed, "THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!" so I tried to tell him that his ice cream mess will make it the best day ever for some happy bugs, who will get to enjoy his treat as well. Luckily for Bennett, Caroline had plenty of ice cream left and shared with him. Such a traumatic end to our morning.

After naps we went to the mall to see the Lego Americana exhibit. The kids were really into it, which made it fun. Also, Joel bought Caroline a cat hat, because she just had to have it.

Sunday morning we woke up and did our first ever family run. Considering this was our first time over the freeway, we needed to stop and take a sweat selfie:

Earlier that day, we went shopping at Kohls, and Caroline got some new pajamas. I was so excited for her to get a nightgown with a matching doll gown, because I had them growing up. She was obviously very excited.
