Bennett had a great day at daycare... But also many accidents. They have been asking him if he needs to potty every 45 minutes and plan on asking him every 30 minutes tomorrow. Hopefully this makes a difference. They said when they ask he instantly starts peeing, but it does sound like it's pretty normal when they're starting out. Bennett saw a garbage truck today. I asked him about it at dinner, and what color it was and he said blue. I like to ask him questions I know the answers to sometimes, just so I know if he understands the question. 

I forgot to mention Bennett said two funny things yesterday. After I was watching him play outside from the window, he came inside and said, "Mommy, you turn me on." "Uh, what did you say?" "Mommy, you turn me on. You turn me on. You turn me on outside," gesturing towards the window. I think he may have confused 'watching' him from the window with 'turning' on the tv and watching it?? Because I'm not sure what else you turn in and watch, aside from a TV... And he was also singing, "Shake, shake, shake. Shake your booty. Shake your booty." I'm not sure if Child Protectivr Services should take him away or if I should win an award because it's pretty darn cute. 

Today Caroline stayed home again. She was up a lot last night and had some Tylenol at 3 am because she was running a fever. She seems to be doing better now and the fever is gone.

Then she kept crawling into the wall... I think she was confused by the bow on her head and why it felt weird when she hit the wall. After she did it the first time, she looked at me confused and then did it again. 

When Bennett got home he was most excited to see me. "Mommy! You came back! Where's my baby?" Bennett is always so concerned as to the whereabouts of his baby, it's so cute. He still tries to calm her when she's fussing. "It's okay, baby. It's ok!" He is seriously such a sweet kid. We're so lucky to have him and to have him as the first born. I didn't get to see much of him today, but got to lay in bed for a few minutes with him as he was going through his bedtime routine. He wrapped his arms around my head, as he was laying, and hugged my head to his chest. Then he let me lay there, using him for a pillow, with his arm wrapped around my neck as we listened to Daddy read a story. So nice!

Today Caroline and mommy stayed home. She had a rough night Sunday and was up about every hour crying, even though she came to bed with us around midnight. She had a fever of 101.3 and since she was extra thirsty last night, we decided I'd stay home with her today. With the fever and not taking a bottle at daycare, I didn't want her to get dehydrated. Like yesterday, she slept a lot. She's sleep for an hour, wake up and play for a half hour and then start crashing and get super fussy. Then she'd sleep again and repeat. While she did wake up from her naps super happy, it was clear the sickness was taking a toll on her, because she got tired so easily and wanted to cuddle, so we watched a lot of TV. 

The times that she was awake she was super fun. Really chatty today. After one nap she was in a happy mood and everything I did was hilarious. We were rolling around in bed, playing with blankets, and she was laughing. I hadn't ever heard her laugh in so many different ways and for so long. After a half hour of super happiness she was done and wanted to be held so I had her in the carrier while I prepped dinner. 

As Joel pointed out, this was my first time home with her all day by myself, since she was just a few weeks old. It reminds me of maternity leave with Bennett, when I could focus all my attention on one person. So nice. It makes me sad that we can't have more days like this but I am glad we got today together. We thought she was doing better but after dinner we went to Target and she started to get really warm again. We checked her temp when we got home and it was 100.9. Poor girl. She was hard to put down tonight, very restless but hopefully she gets a good nights sleep and wakes up better tomorrow. 

Bennett had a good day at daycare. He managed to have 3 small accidents... We only sent two pairs of shorts with, so he came home in a pair of loaners. The note said they were all 'small' accidents though, whatever that means. Hopefully that's normal though and daycare is willing to continue with not wearing diapers. 

Before bedtime he kept saying, "Mom, you turn me on. You turn me on. You turn me on outside." I had him repeat it a few times. He had been playing outside and I was waving to him from our bedroom window. Maybe he meant like a TV, I was turning on the window and watching him outside??? But really, I have absolutely no idea what he was saying. 

Friday night we watched a bike race in Uptown. Bennett liked watching the bikes, but he liked wandering around even more. We spent most of the time walking up and down the sidewalk, but in his defense, there was a lot to see. When the cyclists passed he loved ringing his cowbell. During one of the fun rides, a cyclist threw out a bunch of candy bars. A few fell into the race course, so after that heat, I let Bennett walk in and pick them up. Since he has been to a parade, he knew what to do. Other bystanders got a kick out of him picking up the candy and were cheering him on. 

Saturday was the big day: potty training day. 

Bennett got a chocolate treat for each pee and a car and Oreo for each poop. Here he is showing off his car and Oreo face:

At 7:30 he already told us he needed to potty. Genius! Shortly after we put the underwear on him, he sat on the blanket on the couch and had an accident. Not quite a genius. After that, he went bottomless the rest of the day. He had a horrific poop accident but otherwise didn't do too badly. We decided to plan man-on-man with the kids so I got baby duty while Joel took the lead with potty training, and he did quite well with it. 

Caroline and I had a lot of fun doing things that don't involve being onguard for bodily fluids on the floor. 

Sunday was a continuation of potty training and Father's Day. Bennett woke up dry! Amazing! Joel did wake up at 2 am to take him potty and he went when he woke up but still great! Our goal was to take a walk to Caribou. We did and it was a success!

When we got home we decided to set up  the little crab pool we've had for a while but have never used. It was shortly after playing that Bennett had his first accident of the day. But he was playing outside, with water and wearing swim gear... So it wasn't a big deal. 

On out walk home from Caribou Caroline was pretty cranky and wanted to be held as she slept. She woke up with a slight fever and seemed to be getting worse on our walk. Once home she slept. 

And slept. 

And slept. For about 4 hours, which is totally unlike her. She woke up in an okay mood and we went to dinner but she definitely wasn't feeling well.
