Europe Day 14

The last day of our trip was spent at Disney. We all had a great time. We managed to go on a a few rides and saw the Micky and the Magician show together as a family. Otherwise we were split up, so that joel and Bennett could ride their thrill rides and Caroline and I could do our thing. Our night ended with fireworks in front of the castle. It started raining as we were waiting for fireworks which wasn’t too bad, since earlier in the week it was forecasted to rain most of the day. The only bummer is they didn’t do the drone portion of the show which is what I really wanted to see. The night before we were on the other side of the castle, so our view of the drones was partially blocked by the castle. Oh well, it was still a great show. We took our time exiting the park and stopped at all the shops to panicked-buy suvioneers. Walking through Disney Village on our way to the hotel, we stopped by a sports bar that had a soccer game playing on a big screen. Why not extend the night a little longer, so we stopped to watch the game and have some fish and chips. Caroline actually ate some fish this time around. 

The next morning we made it to the airport shuttle on time. I was most worried because we needed to leave our hotel room around 6:40 am to ensure we didn’t miss the shuttle and we were waking up after 8:00 every day. But it wasn’t a problem despite the kids going to bed after 11:00. I didn’t get to bed until nearly 1:30 am. 

The CDG airport was great because they had free video games. Such an amazing thing. The flight was uneventful. 

Europe Day 13

Today we went to Disney, the last stop of this two week adventure. It always felt fitting to end with Disney because we just love it so much, it just felt celebratory and something that we all enjoy. We left our hotel in Paris a little after 8 and made it to our hotel around 10. As expected, our room wasn’t ready yet so we left our bags and went to the parks. We made it inside Disneyland Park a little after 10:30. The park was already in full swing. Caroline and I went on Buzz Lightyear first, then Snow White and Peter Pan. The waits were long, about 30 mins for Snow White and 50 mins for Peter Pan. There were lots of people. Caroline went on Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time. I told her it was my favorite ride when I went to Disneyland when I was her age, and she loved it too. We rode it three times in total. I think she really liked it becsuse the wait was usually relatively short and the ride was relatively long. She was most excited to ride Peter Pan but waiting 50 minutes for a ride that last 90 seconds isn’t worth it in Caroline’s mind and I definitely agree. With our hotel reservations, we have park hopper passes, so we went to Walt Disney Studio Park and rode ratatouille. Caroline was anxiously waiting for this ride. I read online that it makes a lot of people motion sickness, which was definitely the case for me. I ended up taking off the 3D glasses for a lot of the ride and just closing my eyes. We stayed for fireworks, which started at 9. We made it back to our hotel a little before 10. We got an email regarding our room number so we could go straight there. We literally have the last room at the end of the hall on the 4th floor. It was about 0.2 miles from the elecator. It’s definitely not what you want after a long day at the park. On the positive side, they upgraded us to a 1 bedroom suite, so the kids are sleeping in pullouts in the living room, and joel and I each get a full sized bed. We also have two bathrooms. It’s amazing. Unfortunately, once we got to our hotel, we realized they didn’t deliver our bags, so we had to walk all the way to the bag check, near the reception area and bring our bags up. Then we showered and got ready for bed. Now it’s nearly midnight and we plan on getting up at 7:30 so we can take advantage of the extra magic hour for hotel guests. With nearly 23k steps today, we need to get some rest!
