The weekend

Saturday
Making silly faces:

Southdale vehicle fair

Lunch at Cheesecake Factory. Here is Bennett eating butter. He loves butter.

Then the kids got to go on a ride at the mall. Caroline actually went and both enjoyed it. Of course Bennett wanted to do more and was upset when he had to leave...

When we left the mall, Caroline was super tired. She has a hard time self soothing but found a way to go to sleep... By sucking the button of her cost. We found her this way when we got home. Poor girl.

When we got home it was around 1:30. I knew putting Bennett down for a nap was going to be a headache so I suggested he could skip his nap of his body wasn't feeling tired. He decided his body was definitely not tired and opted took shopping with me.

Bennett did a pretty great job. He got kind of antsy and told me a few times, "I HAVE TO RUN!!!" He stayed pretty close to me the whole time and didn't deter my shopping too much. When we left, I realized how much credit I had to give him, because we were in Kohls for nearly two hours. A 3 year old in Kohls for 2 hours and not having any kind of meltdown. He deserves a prize.

When we got home, Joel and Caroline were on a walk so we went to meet them.

Bennett rode his scooter, which explains the helmet. Then I showed Caroline her new shoes when we got home.

Her eyes LIT UP when she saw them. I mean, they were literally the size of saucers and of course she wanted to wear them immediately even though they were a size too big. She kept twirling and staring at them. They were well worth the money.

Sunday
My crabby girl:

The kids napped at grandma and grandpa while we went shopping.

Caroline was in love with our shopping bag. She insisted on carrying it.

The weekend

Saturday
We went to Hopkins Main Street Day for the first time. The weather was fantastic! Bennett went on a pony ride.  Caroline picked out a small silver penguin animal, since she didn't ride a pony. The kids took a spin on a train. It was Caroline's first ride, so we put her behind Bennett, so that she could see him and not get nervous. After the train left, we realized there was a chance she could get nervous and climb out... so Joel raced after the train to keep an eye on her. She never attempted to get out, so it all went well!

After lunch, we went home and Bennett said his body didn't feel tired and he wanted to go swimming. It was just too nice of a day to say no.

We ended our day with a little bbq picnic.

I asked Bennett to pose with his light saber (see left photo). Then I told him to make a mean face (see right photo).

Monday

Tuesday

Bennett went with his class to the Como Zoo for a field trip. Caroline got a fever at the end of the day, so no daycare for her the next day. After I picked them up from daycare, we went to the library. Bennett was playing with dinosaurs, and I made a comment about the t-rex. "No. It's not a t-rex. It's an allosaurus," he said. I'm not sure what an allosaurus looks like, but I do know we've read about them in a book, and the dinosaur he was playing with that looked like a t-rex had some kind of fin on its back, so it definitely wasn't a t-rex. It's great being outsmarted by a 3 year old.

Wednesday

Sick day for Caroline. She is on oral antibiotics again. The doctor thinks she has a virus, but she also has an ear infection in her left ear, without the tube. She spent the morning with grandpa, and was kind of a pain. After lunch we went home and I put her in the stroller for a run (which I really didn't want to do). Luckily for me, she didn't want to sit in the stroller anyway, so no run for Mom. She liked to crunch the leaves on the road, and hold my hand.

Joel was out of town, so Caroline and I went to pick up Bennett. He wasn't in a great mood when he got home either, and said he had a headache. He was coughing pretty hard, so it seemed like he had something going on, and Bennett NEVER complains about being sick, so if he says he has a headache, he probably had a bad one. They were both pretty upset when we got home:

Thursday
Caroline went back to daycare and was doing okay. She still had a low fever that'd come and go.

Friday

Bennett played golf for the first time. As a lefty using right-handed clubs, he hit the ball 50% of the time, so I'd say that's pretty good!
