Water day for Bennett followed by swim lessons. Caroline was exhausted, and didn't feel like swimming (or taking pictures).

During Caroline's lesson, Bennett was being a supportive big brother. At one point, he turned around, and had his toy plane hanging from his nose. I asked him to recreate it, but he wouldn't do more than stick it in his nose. I guess this is what they mean when they say, "boys will be boys."

Monday Caroline woke up fever free and happy as a clam so she went to daycare. After daycare Bennett went in Caroline's jumper.

Then walked around listen to music. It was actually super cute. He danced as he walked, lost in his own world.

Then he vacuumed.

Monday night was rough. Caroline was up all night, at least every hour so Tuesday morning we decided I'd take her to the doctor. She still didn't have a fever so I was expecting to hear she was just an angry baby but that wasn't the case at all. Double ear infection! Poor thing! She could've gone to daycare but she was super fussy so I decided to stay home, since she's nap better with me than she would at daycare. We did what I'd been wanting to do all those months I was on maternity leave: walk around MOA. Caroline did pretty well, getting fussy when she was tired and preferring to sleep on the carrier, obviously.

Then she spent our afternoon at home being super fussy but wouldn't nap. Sooooo frustrating. So much screeching and yelling from her.

Tuesday night was so rough. She cried all night and couldn't get comfortable. Joel and I woke up super exhausted.

Had so much fun playing in the grass under the big shade tree this morning!!😊

Mama

Last night Caroline's fever was spiking again and she was super fussy and angry. She woke up every couple of hours, screaming and whining. At 2 am, we gave her some Tylenol, and when it kicked it, she screamed less. But she woke up one time, and wanted me, so I cuddled with her and could see her face illuminated by my clock. I'm guessing she could see me too, since she was looking at my eyes and kept saying/whining, "Maaahhhhh. Maaaahhhh," which is usually what she says when she's screaming, only it's more like, "MAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!" Then I'd say, "Yes, I know you're sick. You want mama to help you. I'm trying but I don't know what is wrong." She kept saying it, and finally she stopped and goes, "Mama," super clearly. The first time she said, "Mama," so it was super exciting! Then I assured her that yes, I am her mama and I'm trying to make her feel better. Then she made some happy noises and fell asleep. I really hate being woken up in the middle of the night but that one was actually worth it!

We had a sick kiddo all weekend. Caroline ran a 102-103 fever all weekend. She was mostly exhausted all day Saturday and was really fussy on Sunday. She started off Saturday morning by wanting to nap but she was so exhausted she just whined. Finally she got a swaddled.
And fell asleep a minute later:

While she slept Bennett enjoyed a new inflatable pool. When we asked if Bennett wanted to play in his pool, he was super excited to get the crab pool, and as you can imagine he was extra excited when he saw his new pool. $7 well spent.

Eventually Caroline woke up and watched the festivities.

Lots of sleeping while being held for this little girl. She wouldn't go to bed alone, naturally, so I had to hold her while I ate a late night crab snack.

She had a rough night, waking up often and screeching. At most her fever got to 103.5. I thought it broke because one time she woke up with her back damp from perspiration but when she woke up Sunday morning, it was still around 101. Throughout the day, she was still tired and getting increasingly crabby. She wasn't eating as much as usual either. We aren't sure if she's going to go to daycare tomorrow. It really depends if she wakes up with a fever at all tonight or tomorrow. If she does then she'll stay home because she'll need to go to the doctor, since her fever will be going on 3 days. Fingers crossed she'll be okay. She's actually sleeping in her crib now, so hopefully it's a good sign. Bennett is in our bed though. He wouldn't go to sleep and when I went up to talk to him at 9, I told him he is a big boy now and needs to learn how to sleep on his own like a big boy would. And he said, in the teeniest voice, "I'm a small boy." Can't argue with that. He's only two, and was so insistent upon sleeping in our bed, so why not? Although it's 9:39 now and he's still rolling around. Ugh.

His teacher sent a note with this picture. "He named the puppy Frankie."

After daycare we had a Chipotle picnic at a park. Bennett was more into playing than eating and poor Caroline was running a fever. When we took her temperature when we got home it was 100.8. :(

And now our night is ending like this:

Maybe they'll cuddle together and I can get some sleep.

Daycare sent a picture of the girls with the same hair today.

Swim lessons!

Daycare was super happy that Caroline finished three bottles today (for the first time ever in the nearly two months that she has been there) that they sent a picture saying, "Yay!"

We picked the kids up together today, since we were meeting friends in downtown Hopkins. It was then that I realized Joel sent Caroline to daycare without a shirt on. WITHOUT A SHIRT UNDER HER OVERALLS!!!!! I was pretty embarrassed but the daycare teacher shrugged her shoulders and said, "Well, he did put a sweater on her."
