Bennett was back at daycare. Both kids were. Yay!
Since Bennett was out on Friday, he missed the Valentine's Day party. We actually got a note from his teacher saying he was welcome to go to the party at 4 on Friday, but Bennett must've been feeling a little sick because he slept from 1-4. When he woke up, we told him he could go to the party, but he said he wanted to stay home. But on Monday, he brought his cards into school. He gave each kid a set of lip whistles, so they sent us a picture of his class enjoying them.
I was actually worried his teachers would be mad at us for sending such an annoying gift for the class, but his teacher was really kind and grateful. She said they handed them out after snack, when the class was getting a little squirrely, so it actually was a welcomed distraction.
After school, we ate leftover ribs. Both kids loved the sauce more than the ribs.
Then Bennett went through his Valentine's Day treats from his class. One gift was a mask that he was very excited about.
After Caroline went to bed, Bennett and I spent a little time doing puzzles together. It's rare we spend time together doing an activity without Caroline around, and I could see Bennett really appreciated the attention.
As we were reading books before bed, we decided to send Daddy a selfie of what we were doing. Just as I snapped the picture, Bennett decided to make a funny face instead of smile. Both of us saw it when we looked through the pictures, and cracked up. Bennett really cracked up.

Wednesday
Wednesday afternoon Caroline had an ENT appointment to check on the tube that had fallen into the middle ear. Of course during the exam we found out both ears were infected again! The doctor wanted to suck out the pus, so that he could see the tubes, which meant we needed to go to the fun room. Since Caroline had been in the fun room before, we all knew it'd be a struggle, and opted to put her in the straitjacket. Caroline was not happy. During the procedure, she was crying/screaming so hard, she threw up on the jacket and the nurse. I felt really bad about it, but in a way, it serves them right! The doctor was concerned because the tubes weren't working, due to all the infections. He said we had a few options: 1) Do a full blood work/immuno workup, to see if there's something else making her sick all the time, 2) pull her from daycare for 2-3 months to see if it's just being around other kids that makes her sick, or 3) do a surgery to put in new tubes, as well as remove the tube that had fallen in. Ugh. It was such a bad, and completely unexpected news. He also took a sample of the pus to test it was an antibiotic resistant strain. We were both so shocked at the options, like, really crushed to hear all of this. We thought tubes would fix everything, but clearly not.
That evening, Bennett got a tattoo:
