Seven Weeks Old

This past week has been an eventful one. B has been having some reflux issues (crying and pulling away while eating, throwing up) so we took him to the doctor on Monday. The doctor said he has GERD, prescribed Ranitidine (like Zantac), and said he should grow out of it eventually.  The doctor also assured us all babies like Rantidine and he's never heard of one that doesn't like to take it.  Obviously he's never met our kid, because B HATES it. He doesn't just push it out with his tongue, he actually spits it out, so that it flies at us. He has to take it twice a day, so clearly, it is a time we all look forward to.  It seems to be doing some good, as he seems less fussy, but more importantly, he seems to be napping better/longer and on his own (instead of having one of us hold him). Yay!

Otherwise, things are going well. B wanted me to mention that his hair is growing, although not filling in in the front as he would like. His eyes are still the dark blue/gray. During his appointment we found out he weighs 12#14. The doctor noted how impressive this is because at this five day old appointment he was in the 22nd percentile for weight. Then at his two week appointment, he was in the 50th percentile and now he is in the 89th percentile!

Other things to note: That pacifier that made him so happy last week isn't really doing it for him anymore. He still enjoys sitting in the swing. I catch him smiling at the animals in the mobile once in a while. He still loves foot massages (Joel thought I was kidding about that until he gave him one and saw how much he relaxes during it.) His neck is pretty strong, as you can see below. He also likes it when people sing to him, and despite being in the 89th percentile, he still fits in baskets.
