Here are Bennett's last official pictures as a 5 month old. He asked me to mark the occasion by making him a bowtie so that he could look all dapper. He has had quite an eventful week. He took his first international trip, to Toronto. He is doing really well on getting up on his hands and knees, and rocking back and forth. With the way he gets up on all fours, then settles back on his tummy, he has the ability to slowly inch around. It won't be long until he is crawling, which is fine since I go back to work in 12 days.

Bennett is becoming more assertive when he sees things he wants, and will reach out for it. If it is something he really wants, he might throw his body into it and lean towards it with arms stretched out. He still isn't very sturdy in his sitting, and prefers to spend his time on his tummy. I think he thinks he can get by in life by laying around on his stomach... We're trying to teach him to be gentle with things, like petting the girls and touching flowers. We let him touch but remind him to be "gentle... gentle..." so that he doesn't grab, but will open his hand up and pet things instead. I think he's kind of understanding it, and will grab my hair but not pull it. I'm sure it's something we'll have to work at a lot, but there's no harm in starting now. Overall, he continues to be a happy baby!
