Niagara on the Lake

The last day of our vacation was spent in Niagara on the Lake. On the way to the little town we stopped at a few wineries, because Mommy and Daddy needed to have a little fun.

We visited two wineries and tried ice wine for the first time, which we LOVED. I'm not a big fan of wine, so it is always surprising when I find something I love. Ice wine is a sweet dessert wine. It tastes like a wonderful, crisp, syrup. So delicious! (We didn't buy any bottles to bring back because we didn't want to pay $25 to check a bag, but we went to a wine shop yesterday and they only had three selections of ice wine, and only one was Canadian. It was $85 for 375ml... we REALLY wish we would've bought a few bottles and paid to check a bag!)

When we arrived to Niagara on the Lake, our first stop was to Lake Ontario, to get a picture of Bennett visiting his second Great Lake. We visited Lake Ontario earlier on the trip, when we went to the waterfront, but never got a family picture there. When we were driving through the town, the first establishment we passed was the Prince of Wales Hotel, and I saw a sign advertising afternoon tea. As we all know, there is nothing I enjoy more than my afternoon tea, so as soon as we finished our photo and parked the car, we booked it to the hotel to get a reservation for tea.

Bennett did okay at tea. It was near naptime, so he wasn't too keen to sit and enjoy. He was very curious about the food we were eating though. When I'd take a bite or just held food in my hand, he'd lean in and try to steal a taste.

After tea, we walked to the shops and Bennett napped for a while, then did some shopping. Mommy bought Bennett a little present. It is very important Bennett got something special to remember this trip!

After we finished shopping, we started the trek back to the U.S. and the Buffalo airport to head back home. On the way, we stopped at Lake Erie, to take photos at Bennett's third Great Lake. He was napping when we stopped, and woke up groggy, so he wasn't into taking pictures. Plus it was super windy and sunny, so he was probably annoyed we made him do it.

The flight home started okay. Bennett fell asleep around take off. I gave him an earmuff, so that the announcements wouldn't wake him up. It didn't work too well and he woke up. Bennett had a small poop, so Joel took him to the bathroom to change. Joel said the second the bathroom door closed, Bennett started screaming bloody murder. They both came out of the bathroom red faced, with fellow passengers staring at them with concerned looks on their faces as they passed. We're thinking maybe he felt a little claustrophobic, but who knows. It was late and near his bedtime too. Bennett did enjoy sitting in a seat for a while, and we made it just fine, so the vacation was a success!
