I nearly forgot to post the pictures from last week's Duluth trip. Overall, it was a lot of fun and nice to get away, even if it was only two hours north. We arrived late on Sunday night and Bennett was fast asleep when we went up to the room, but woke as we were settling in. His eyes grew wide as he awoke and saw he was in a new place. It is so exciting to see how perceptive he is, because at times, it is easy to think, "Oh, he's just a baby. He doesn't know what is going on," but no, he definitely knows when things are different. The room had two beds, so Bennett and I slept in one, and Joel in the other. They gave us a crib for Bennett to sleep in, but it was a horrid metal thing and looked like something that belonged in an orphanage, so no, my child did not sleep in it.
The next morning, as Bennett was coming out of his milk coma haze, he remembered we were in a different place and his head snapped to look out the window. I walked him over so that he could look outside and he was just mesmerized. He is just so observant! We spent the morning walking around downtown and trying to figure out how to cross over to the lake. (We walked past a group of construction workers five times in an hour because we couldn't figure out where to go...) When Joel was finished with work, we went to see the lighthouse and snapped a few photos. It was a great trip!
