Italy Day 6

Today is our only day in Cinque Terre so we wanted to make the most of it by seeing as many towns as possible. The easiest and cheapest way to do this is to take the ferry between the towns. It is only 40 minutes to the most southern town so we decided to go to that one first and work our way back. 

This would be Bennett's first boat/ferry ride. Here we are leaving Monterosso. 

 

Arriving at 

Already at 10 am the sun was hot hot hot. We made the world's worst decision by bringing the stroller with as we had to go on many flights of stairs. Many flights. Very hot. Joel played pack mule and I carried the little prince. 

We stopped off for gelato first because again, very hot, many stairs. Joel found an easy walk in the guidebook so we went with it. Luckily we were able to use the stroller but unluckily, the paths were steep. 

The path we walked up, I pushed the stroller with gelato in hand. Where there's the will, there's the way. 

We made it to the church the guidebook said to visit and had a seat in the shade. Bennett finished off the rest of my cone, as he always likes to do. (It's an empty cone) Bennett decided to be loving again. 

Then he stretched his legs since the ground was finally flat.

Then we made our way back to the ferry. 

Bennett was crabby and we decided to just head back to Monterosso and enjoy the sun and rest. Bennett got to dip his feet in the Mediterranean Sea but that was enough for him. 

And then Bennett gave us the best gift ever!

We have been hoping he'd nap on he beach so that we could enjoy he sun!!!

Afterwards we got back on the ferry and went to Vernazza but not before Bennett had another scenic diaper change. 

In Vernazza our only goal was to take a scenic picture of the town. We only had about 1.25 hours until the last ferry of the day would arrive to take us back to Monterosso. 

It was a struggle and hike up many stairs but we did it. 

 Bennett didn't want to cooperate but at least we have some photographic evidence that we were there. On the way to the ferry we saw a place that served take away fried calamari. Joel was finally happy! 

Then we headed back to the habour to catch the ferry. 

Back in Monterosso Bennett made a friend while we waited for the restaurants to open for dinner at 7. 

Then we had a fantastic meal at a restaurant called Ciak. We were seated in a room called 'baby saloon' (each restaurant has outside seating) but that was fine and the good came out fast. Seafood spaghetti for me and spaghetti pesto for Joel. 

It was FANTASTIC!!!! 

It was moderately priced too. €12 for the pesto and €14 for the seafood. It's hard to see but the portions were HUGE. Like I would've gladly saved half of mine if I could, but we went for it and finished! Now were back at our hotel taking showers and we'll be packing soon. We leave here for Rome tomorrow.
